QUEENS (WABC) \u2014\u00a0<\/span>Venezuelans across New York City have mixed reactions to the\u00a0capture of President Nicolas Maduro<\/a>. While some people are elated, others are wondering what is next for their homeland.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so happy,\u201d said Marilla Moreira.<\/p>\n

Moreira fled Venezuela almost 30 years ago during the Chavez era and hasn\u2019t visited family in 15 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to go back to see my brother because he\u2019s my older brother and I want to give him a hug and kiss,\u201d said Moreira.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s one of many people who live in Queens who fled Venezuela. On Saturday, she celebrated with friends and is hoping a new leader will mean a better life for a new generation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw a lot of people die in the street so it\u2019s very hard and I prefer to forget everything in the past because I want to live in the moment and live in the present because it\u2019s very hard,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Kenia Fernandez moved to New York City from Venezuela a year and a half ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy about everything that happened, I woke up feeling great,\u201d said Fernandez.<\/p>\n

However, like many people watching the developments, she\u2019s still concerned about family in her home country, Including her mother.<\/p>\n
