Complaints have been lodged with Australia\u2019s broadcast watchdog after sex-fuelled scenes aired on Channel 9 reality show Married At First Sight, as some contestants reveal they\u2019ve been left publicly humiliated by the racy \u201cPornhub\u201d footage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI feel incredibly uncomfortable with what has gone to air,\u201d one of the show\u2019s female contestants told news.com.au following Monday\u2019s episode that showed full-body shots of her dressed in revealing lingerie.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mum\u2019s pretty uncomfortable about having had to watch it. It aired on national TV and it feels pretty disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n

The episode was broadcast in the usually family-friendly prime-time slot at 7.30pm and\u00a0exhibited contestants in all their glory<\/a>: stripped down to barely-there underwear while positioned in sexual poses. One wife was filmed bent over,\u00a0licking chocolate off her on-screen husband\u2019s nipple<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always assumed that they wouldn\u2019t put anything on-air that\u2019s not appropriate for TV,\u201d the anonymous bride said. \u201cThere\u2019s a presumption that, if things cross the line, it won\u2019t go to air.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) told news.com.au it has received various complaints following this week\u2019s instalment of the reality program, with members of the public \u201cexpressing concern about inappropriate content\u201d.<\/p>\n

The steamy stunts took place as part of the show\u2019s \u201cintimacy week\u201d \u2013 a challenge designed to raise the heat between the couples who have been blindly matched on the social experiment.<\/p>\n

Resident sexpert Alessandra Rampolla tasked the female contestants with crafting their \u201cultimate fantasy night\u201d.<\/p>\n

While the power was seemingly in the hands of the wives, one of the women, who spoke to news.com.au on the condition of anonymity out of fear of being punished by the production, said the female contestants who got near-nude \u201cwere acting in the assumption that nothing inappropriate would be shown\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn previous years, wives were only shown in lingerie from the neck up \u2013 and I assumed that would be the case this year,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n

Some of this year\u2019s wives were \u201cpressured into doing things they didn\u2019t want to do\u201d, she said. She claimed co-stars Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou were provided with strawberries and chocolate and \u201ctold to put it on each other\u2019s bodies\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they pushed back and didn\u2019t want to do it,\u201d she said. \u201cThey just put them in a bowl and ate dessert instead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Married At First Sight\u2019s<\/i>\u00a0executive producer Alex Spurway did not wish to address claims made in this story or discuss the perceived spike in sexual content on the show.<\/p>\n

Two contestants who played out the food fantasy in the bedroom were Carina Mirabile and Paul Antoine. Ms Mirabile was filmed bent over the bed in a G-string, licking chocolate off Mr Antoine\u2019s nipple.<\/p>\n

Former\u00a0MAFS\u00a0<\/i>contestant Selina Chhaur, who now hosts the\u00a0Back To Reality<\/i>\u00a0podcast, said this choc-nip stunt left her stunned.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was so sexual,\u201d she said. \u201cI felt like I was watching\u00a0Fifty Shades of Grey<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Chhaur said, in her own experience on the series, \u201cproducers technically don\u2019t force you to do anything\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can say no!\u201d she said. \u201cYou would not catch (me) in lingerie doing what they did this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said she \u201cstill cringes\u201d at the memory of being filmed in her bikini during her honeymoon on the show but now felt it was tame compared to a scene this week involving near-nude bride Sierah Swepstone, who received a sensual massage from husband Billy Belcher while arched seductively.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018Whoa!\u2019. She was topless, legs spread on a chair, skimpy G-string. I was taken aback,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in a bikini by the pool \u2026 there\u2019s a difference between that and being completely topless with your legs spread on a chair. This current cast is very confident with their bodies. You wouldn\u2019t be able to get me to wear lingerie on camera to shoot a scene on\u00a0MAFS<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Swepstone took to her Instagram account following the episode and wrote she\u2019s \u201call for body confidence, sex positivity, self-love and self-confidence\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sources close to Jacqui Burfoot, another bride on this year\u2019s series, say \u201cshe\u2019s uncomfortable\u00a0with what happened during \u2018intimacy week<\/a>\u2019\u201d, after scenes aired showing full-body shots of her in sheer lingerie along with footage of\u00a0her on-screen husband telling the other contestants\u00a0<\/a>\u201cshe gives awesome head\u201d.<\/p>\n

They say she\u2019s feeling \u201cslut shamed by Australia\u201d.<\/p>\n

While previous \u201cintimacy week\u201d challenges have shown couples looking at sex toys and discussing their desires, former contestant Al Perkins said he was startled by the graphic imagery that went to air this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I saw that footage, I thought, \u2018I\u2019ve seen that on Pornhub\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Sydney tradie, who appeared on the 2022 season of the reality show, said the intimacy challenges his cohort was tasked with included \u201chugging\u201d and \u201cstaring into each other\u2019s eyes\u201d and \u201csome kissing\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Producers] have definitely turned it up heaps,\u201d he said. \u201cWe weren\u2019t even asked to wear lingerie \u2026 the most extreme thing me and my partner had to do was pull out a bunch of sex toys and talk about them and what they\u2019re used for. At the time, I thought that was crazy. I thought that was so R-rated.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ACMA told news.com.au it is \u201caware of recent reports\u201d around this week\u2019s episodes of\u00a0Married At First Sight<\/i>\u00a0and \u201cwill be monitoring the number of inquiries from the public\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsistent with the broadcasting co-regulatory system and the Commercial TV Code of Practice, [these complaints] have been referred to the broadcaster in the first instance to make a complaint,\u201d a spokesperson for the media watchdog said.<\/p>\n

\u201c \u2026 If they do not receive a response within 60 days or are not satisfied with the response, they may refer their complaint to the ACMA for assessment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Channel 9 did not wish to provide comment for this story.<\/p>\n

While former\u00a0MAFS\u00a0<\/i>contestant Mr Perkins said he was surprised by this week\u2019s skyrocketing sexiness, he urged perturbed viewers to simply \u201cturn off\u201d the TV.<\/p>\n
