Recent reports have linked Angelina Jolie, 49, with British rapper, activist, and author Akala, whose real name is Kingslee James McLean Daley, 40. The two have been seen together at various events, including film premieres and literary festivals, sparking speculation about a possible romantic relationship\u2026<\/p>\n

Angelina Jolie\u00a0is not romancing the British rapper Akala, a source tells PEOPLE.
\nDespite a recent\u00a0report\u00a0claiming that Jolie, 49, and Akala, 40, are spending time together in London, a source close to Jolie tells PEOPLE that the Oscar winner is simply \u201cclose friends with Akala and his partner\u201d. The source stresses that Akala\u2019s partner \u201chas also been at every event\u201d Jolie and Akala have appeared at in recent days.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey all work together,\u201d the source says. \u201cAngelina remains focused on her family and is not dating at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

PEOPLE has reached out to Akala\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n

This is the second time the source close to Jolie has clarified that the actress and Akala, whose real name is Kingsley James McLean Daley, are not an item. Back in May,\u00a0In Touch<\/em>\u00a0reported that Jolie had been privately seeing Akala for \u201cmore than a year,\u201d while reports that they were dating surfaced again after they were seen leaving a hotel together in Venice during the Venice Film Festival in August.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe and Akala are not dating. She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle, who was also there,\u201d the source told PEOPLE on Aug. 29. Another source at the time said the pair have been friends for \u201cseveral years\u201d and that they \u201cshare the same passion when it comes to social and humanitarian causes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from Akala\u2019s work in music \u2014 he has released five albums and multiple EPs since starting his recording career in the early 2000s \u2014 he is also an author, having published the nonfiction book\u00a0Natives: Race & Class in the Ruins of Empire<\/em>\u00a0in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did several collabs over the years that focus on global issues like human rights,\u201d the second source added. \u201cAngie speaks very highly of him.\u201d<\/p>\n
